Whatever the validity of the action, it is impressive how the matter was handled, quickly and the guys back in position in seconds.

bit clearer on this one. not sure there was any malice intended on the cyclists part, looks to me like he's just trying to ride alongside. bit of an overreaction if you ask me.

I bet at the time the police weren't sure if there was any malice intended either, which is why they acted as they did. Hindsight is a wonderful thing !

you mean like the coach on the M6 Toll and the "electronic cigarette" LMAO (sorry, i know they have to take it seriously but IT IS FUNNY ha ha)

It's a showcase. They need spectators to make it look big and make a noise. Rather like a political rally in North Korea.

Seems rather heavy-handed to me ... cyclist looks like a kid

He is. Far too heavy handed. In order to 'protect' the kid, the cop drags him in front of a moving car....

I'm no stranger to how stupid and annoying kids can be (many's the time I'd like to thump one who was trying to ride on the back of our work vehicle, stopping us from getting on), but that was completely bodged, He could easily have been steered the other way instead of rugby tackled. Makes us look big doesn't it, knocking a kid off a BMX (in order to protect a tin foil stick). I'm not convinced the kid was heading for the torch, it looks to me like he was making to ride past the cop in front of him on the inside.

Heavy handed or what If I was that kids parents id want him done for assault totally unprovoked in my opinion all he had to do was stop him and ask him politely to move to the side.If he refused the police could remove him not some no mark.

As I understand it, all those security runners are Met Police....

There's also footage of the two boys who tried to touch the torch in Coventry. Although it's billed as them trying to 'snatch' it, to me it looks like they run up to the carrier and ask to touch it, and she goes to let them. In that case, they are removed much more gently, and simply placed back into the crowd - much more sensible.
