Three word soundbite
"Conservative London Assembly leader James Cleverly wrote afterwards that he had walked out in protest over not being given chairmanship of any Assembly committees."

So a case of "If I can't be in charge I'm not interested." How childish.

When it does finally happen I'm sure there will be 2 hour speeches saying how many future lives have been saved by getting rid of bendy buses.

Barnet,
There is one member of the assembly (tory) who is a particularly odious little man, Brian Coleman can't stand the man.
Coleman is a councillor on my local council, Barnet. The only people who like him are the voters of Totteridge ward who continue to vote him in. He has been censured by the council, thrown out of the London assembly by Boris, and very few people like him.

One difficulty here is that angry postings on a web forum make not a jot of difference on polling day.

I remember thinking in 1981 that all the workers in heavy industry who were being turfed out of work should be 110%-committed canvassers and doorstoppers against the then government.

But we won a war and all was forgiven. Within weeks of the election the moaning started again and people were saying how they felt let down after giving their vote to the Tories....

Many years ago I went with Mrs Bicycle to see Jeremy Hardy doing stand-up and he did a sketch mocking angry liberals, sayng "This is intolerable; I shall write three angry letters to three different local newspapers".

I bristled a little about the sketch on the way home and Mrs Bicycle (who is of the left) laughed more than she did at the show.

The Tory members of the Assembly look to be behaving like first-class backsides, but in all probability many Londoners don't give a fig about cyclists. One way or another, those are the levers of democracy.

Once again a thread about politics based on the 'meat and 2 veg' diet.

Together the tories, labour and mealy-mouthed, hand-wringing, irresponsible, wet-nurse liberals have successively ruined this country, year in year out. False promises, going back on promises, blatant disregard for people that voted for them, expenses scandals........the list is end less, yet our 'GREAT' (sic) british public can't see beyond tri-party politics.

Why vote for the three main parties that constantly don't do what they say they're going to do?

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've already got.

Bloody hell, just been reading the guy's Wikipedia entry:

What a horrible, horrible man.

How do you get rid of someone like that? Presumably he just gets in because of people voting Tory, or are there people who actually like him and specifically vote for him? Not having voted in a local election in a while or a LA election I'm not sure how it works.

My mum is one of his constituents (or whatever the word is) and I'm sure she'd be interested in what can be done to get rid of horrible people like him.

Consistently runs up higher taxi fares than the rest of the London Assembly COMBINED. Bloody hell.
