Has anyone here competed in one?

Just asking as our Pastor has entered one for next year, after losing 50lbs. He's way older than me too, and as I used to compete in Half Iron Man events I was just thinking........ or possibly not (it looks hard work but there is this little bit of me saying that I can possibly do this if I get training again properly)

Interested in hearing of experiences and if anyone has actually died doing one.

I've been tempted to do the new one in Kettering I think it is, but id really have to sort the diet/training for it and probably wouldnt want to enter it solo. Im not sure how hard work it is, seems a lot of the obstacles have queues in videos, so maybe possible to get a breather. It's the kinda thing that really depends on the weather too, it could be brutal during a cold snap.

Apparently its a team sport (no $4it sherlock) and you can have as many people in your team as you want to. Anything from one person to a couple of dozen. Needed, no doubt, to form human chains to get over some of the obstacles. I believe that summer is the 'season' for them but as this is England and we are a weird lot there is no telling.

Thinking about some gentle jogging next week to see how the wobbly bits feel. Need new trainers too.
