Finally got to watch the stage! Poor Demi! That looked painful! I’m glad she had a team to actually help her this time!

Ceratizit rider and a Picnic PostNL rider dive bombed the corner. The Picnic PostNL rider easily made it despite being further inside, whereas the Ceratizit rider rode into the back wheel of a rider in front by going for a gap that was always going to close. She basically rode straight into a wheel almost without braking and then careened off into the middle of the peloton and took out Vollering and the others.
Honestly looked utterly horrendous and is just incredibly stupid behaviour akin to Nicole Frain who basically destroyed Martha Cavalli's career with a stupid maneuver.
Should be a yellow card at the very least. It's racing, so you are free to dive bomb to a reasonable level, but if you do, you should make sure that you make it. The Picnic PostNL rider had zero issues making the corner, but braking and steering do help to do so.

I've said this before, I'm sure, but I really do love cycling's insistence on the word "contusions". It makes everybody sound like the tragic dying heroine in a melodramatic Victorian novel.

Yes but no. There's loads of them and we ought to bring them back.

"Medical report: two riders were diagnosed with grippe, one rider did not start after a nasty case of dropsy, and the entire Ineos team are struggling with the flux. There were no cases of ague in the peloton today."

As long as they don't leak flugistine and spontaneously burst into flames

New medical tests reveal that the entire Cofidis men's team have been suffering from an outbreak of extreme lassitude. The infection is thought to have spread and been carried by Cofidis team cars, bus, bicycles and kit for at least a decade, if not two. Team manager Cédric Vasseur gave this statement: "C'est la... ... hnuuuuurgh ... je suis épuisée... bonne nuit"

Fdj Suez:

Further medical examinations and a second concussion protocol Demi Vollering underwent this morning with the team doctor, ruled out the risk of concussion.

With the support of FDJ-SUEZ team, Demi Vollering is determined to take part in today's stage. The team remains vigilant and will further follow her situation during the efforts (warming up and race).
