kirstie - I missed this as I was in France at the time. I'm at work but have a couple of links at home. I'll try to remember to dig them out later if I get away from work before Bottle of Red Time.
yes ive done the route accidentally as part of le Havre to Nice - I was given the leaflet about 2 thirds through which showed that I had not quite done the official way - substituted or missed 2 or 3
cols for the official ones - its as the alps are - wicked - plenty of camping en route and as much climbing as you want in any day - i have to admit that a couple of cols that I had to go back to look at another year as I arrived at the top in the dark (theory that ony xxxkm to top and it will be quick down the other side does not work too well) and didnt see much of the scenary on the descent

Kirstie, get a copy of the Route des Grandes Alpes map 3615IGN as a first step. Even if you never ride the route it makes a fantastic wall hanging.
If I've missed the point and you are looking at an organised event then sorry.
If not then this link may give some ideas. If you can negotiate the French and get to the telechargement section then you can download a pdf route card to use as a base. I should point out that the route pland were originally planned for motorbike use.

Thanks! I discovered the French website and I can read it OK, so no problems there...not quite decided on organized or unsupported but I prefer the latter. I'm just at the finding out stage at the moment, really, and other people might want to do other things next year...
