I didn't know they had to bid? That's interesting. I thought it was down to the race organisers, sponsors, and logisitics of coverage etc. Does that mean the local councils are using tax payers money to bid for the tour to be routed through thier borough?

I guess Essex must have not bid, hence the u turn south of Bury St Eds. Still there's every chance I shall be able to see the start of stage 7 and nip across to Diss before they get there.
