Not too bad then 🤣

I watched most of the last 30k - from Halesworth to Bungay, Beccles, Ellough and into Southwold on my phone. It was good weather here in Lowestoft at that time and looked ok: with (by then ?) dry roads for the Tour guys…..

Maybe I should have ignored the forecasters skills (again), got off my butt and gone watched !

well considering the forecast no absolutely not bad at all 😎. Even this morning it was saying rain from midday onwards for the rest of the day , but I mean the race itself I think missed the worst parts, they did get wet at some stage I havent watched the whole thing yet, but like they passed Snape in bright sunshine, and literally by the time the broom wagon had passed, Id packed up ready to go to the next point, we got caught in like a 20min intense deluge.

Same heading back down the route after the race, they finished in bright conditions, and yet immediately the clouds came in and then I was soaked again around Snape, but even as I rode out of Southwold, roads that had been dry when I rode in, were soaking wet when I rode out.

looks like wind will be the biggest problem on stage 2, with occasional showers
So we're left with the Mortirolo of Hadleigh... It least it goes up all the way today

I saw someone in the local newspaper claim theyd be doing 60mph down the other side of it ...Ive ridden that hill and I didnt even know it was a hill (I always thought Semer Hill meant Watsons Hill but its not), and I dont like hills much

Someone needs to cut a few hedges down with 70kph gusts about.

no they just need to pick better routes, there are plenty of exposed hedgeless bits of Suffolk to visit where the wind is relentless, and as I said yesterday there are steep hills too, there are rolling bits which really test your stamina as its up down up down for miles, and the roads get grindy too, all surface dressing style, no smooth tarmac anywhere.

but they never pick those routes. its all about delivering a sprint finish, so mission accomplished.
