Tour of Britain (Women and men) - Spoilers!

Just been looking at the Stage 5 route map, some very familiar road for me mainly around Monmouthshire on rolling terrain plus the two ascents of "the Tumble" with the race finishing at the top of the second ascent. There's a couple of other long but less steep climbs including Llangwm that used to be on a stage of the Ras De Cymru for anyone who rode it. The bits between Abergavenny and Monmouth have been regulars on Abergavenny based pro races in the past including the Nationals.

Stage 6 is a bit disappointing with Caerphilly Mountain being the only climb of note. It feels like they've gone out of their way to make it as flat as they possibly could in the valleys they are routing around.

Yeah, my guess is it will take in Caerphilly Mountain as the organisers seem to love that climb. It will be interesting to see how they route. Hopefully they'll take in some of the other bigger climbs like the Bwlch, Rhigos or Llangynidr

The route is up now. THey aren't going via Bwlch, Rhigos or LLangynidr (they are doing the Tumble the day before).

But they are going up Caerphilly mountain before heading into Cardiff for the finish.

Basically, it goes from Newport up to Ebbw Vale, back down the Sirhowy valley as far as Markham, across then up to almost Tredegar before going across West again to Pontlottyn, up past Rhymney, then over the tops towards Bargoed, Nelson, Ystrad Mynach then down to Caerphilly & Cardiff.

Biggest climbs are coming out of Markham, and Caerphilly mountain.

Looks like they are expecting stage 5 to be decisive, and stage 6, while not quite processional is expected to keep the main group more together.
