I have a week of triathlon training booked for 21 March in Lanzarote. However there is now a chance that this will be cancelled (and hopefully refunded by work) due to a project being delayed and me needing to be there (which I will of course be very hacked off about)

If that happens I will rebook to do something different probably in April, poss early May. (Lanzarote is a club thing, and I would not want a week there alone.)

So possible choices please? I live near Southampton and have a preference for a) warmish ;) something which sounds like I have done a trip rather than just pottered.

1 Ferry to St Malo (arr on a Saturday morning) then 8 days of cycling average 130km per day to arrive Perpignan the following Saturday night, fly back Sunday lunch with Flybe to Southampton. That sounds like a lot but do-able

2. Spain. Fly to Almeria, cycle via Granada to Jerez.

3. Anything else? If it involves flights, then anything to or from Southampton or Bournemouth would be perfect

I would be doing ultralight with my cheapo winter road bike (Trek 1.2) and two small Ortliebs on the back. Staying in hotels/B&Bs

Thinking hats on please!

I love both the options you've given! If you've not done a Channel to Med ride before, I'd personally think that would be the most rewarding. Granada is def on my list of places to see as well.

That time of the year, think about Tuscany. Pisa to Rome via Florence, Siena, Perugia etc? Or around the coast of Sicily. Or Naples to Palermo? Slovenia looks gorgeous, but I'm not sure about the weather.

Yes. Channel to med. Quite fancy it myself.
I, on the other hand, am doing a 6 day tour in northern scotland in April, including some off road sections. There will be no midges but probably lots of rain and high winds...

It's all booked now, but channel to med...mmmm lovely.
