Caught in possession of an offensive attitude - classic clip, thought the coppers were far more patient than I would have been. If anyone here is from Brighton and knows this pos, send him a link to this thread as I'm in no doubt he mouths off in the pub about how badly done by he was. He needs to understand just how despised he is by other cyclists.

I liked his 'I'm a cyclist' quote

no you're not you're a clown.
'I didn't go through a red light'- yes you did.
If you're going to get caught might as well make it for something decent

Exactly - and neither was this idiot. So not sure why he used the phrase.

Journalistic laziness - and I suppose Jamie didn't write the script anyway.

It's alliterative, which makes it good rhetoric, even if inaccurate.

I'm sure they referred to 'bad bikers' too, probably for the same reason.

But if you are a 'biker' acting like a tit, saying 'bad biker' is a relatively simple piece of alliteration and to a degree matches up.

Saying 'sick of lycra louts' when the bloke in question is a drunk idiot in a leather jacket and jeans doesn't make sense.

My problem isn't saying something like "careless cyclists" (this alliteration lark is easy), it's just tarnishing a subset of a community (people wearing lyrca) with a single broad brush.

I've no sympathy at all, but the fine did seem a little excessive. I've seen worse offences recieve much smaller fines, although he seemed the type who would represent himself in court & with his attitude the judge probably set the fine accordingly

Agreed - Other fines should be increased to be on a par with this.

I bet the bloke won't RLJ, ride with no lights, and run from police again.

Sadly, I bet he'll blame cycling and never ride a bike again. Strange that people don't adopt a similar attitude to never driving again?

He even wanted the summons, not the fixed penalty he was offered. Was that the heaviest penalty of the entire program?
You could just see the guy digging a deeper hole and not knowing when to stop.

After watching this i drove to the girlfriends house, within half a mile i seen 3 seperate people on bikes cycling on the pavement, no lights, theyre all out there. Howver these ones i seen were on £70 reebok bikes and tracksuits rather than lycra.

On the show they also tried to defend the RLJ almost by saying it was close to call as he went through the junction as it turned green, edging out into the junction n a red is red light jumping to me

He got what he deserved, what a plonker. Funny though, they never pursued the drunk in charge of a bicycle line or whatever it is, obviously not worth the trouble of proving.
