hello I've just come off an LBC interview with Nick Ferrari about traffic droid (Lewis Dedaire ),this is from a video he took of a driver using her MacBook while at a red light. It's on the Mail website.Nick grilled me that it was a one way street in that car drivers weren't able to film and identify cyclists since we don't have licence plates (that old chestnut ! ).I pointed out that the driver was breaking the law since she was in charge of her vehicle but that the law hasn't kept up with society since this practice is so widespread.

LBC's POV is irrrelevant, they are just demonising for money. Who cares what they think? It's not worth wasting your energy on.

Bizarrely I have a colleague who uses a helmet cam, and also uses one in his car a "DashCam" that sits behind the mirror

He has several successful complaints about..... motorists, the last being two boy racers zipping in and out of traffic at a speed well above the promulgated 30 mph

Sad fact is that the cycling thing is a red herring, most cameras pick up motoring offences because they are the most common and most dangerous

I think even amongst cyclists TD has become a PIA.
Unfortunately he's loud, obnoxious and has too much time on his hands though, and the media love that. I think most of the non-cycling general public now think he's our elected mouthpiece or something.
Don't get me wrong - I love it that so many people have taken up cycling, but I wish he'd sell his bike, his silly cameras and go and buy a car instead.

Just think of the camera mounting opportunities. Or just get a Google camera car.

Not to mention horn options.
He'd stand out a bit too much then.

Thread at number six and moving up.

I occasionally encounter him on my commute. And genwrally I am not greatly impressed with his riding. One particular occasion springs to mind, a driver wanted to change lanes at a point where the road goes from having 1 lane and 1 mandatory bike lane to having 2 lanes on the approach to a roundabout. The driver indicated, waited for a decent gap, and carefully moved over. Next thing I know the Queen Mary's foghorn goes off behind as Droid comes charging up and chooses to take umbrage even though the driver had in my opinion done absolutely nothing wrong.

It doesn't surprise me... I'm quite surprised he's managed to go this long without someone lumping him one to be honest. It's only a matter of time before he goes banging on the window of the wrong car...
