The LBS will charge £85 to transfer all the components across to the CAADX frame which seems well worth it to me.

I'll stick with current cranks for now and get them to use an adapter. Also going to get them to put good gel tape on the bars.

£85 sounds ok and will save you any hassle as its never straight forward swapping things over.:cursing:

Looks like a good deal to me!

Frameset arrived. All looks good ... Except ...

The frame is supposed to be BB30. Advertised by Cannondale as such. But it's threaded and I'm pretty sure it's standard BSA 68. Confused ...

Must be an older model than you thought.

Anyone help clarify this ? Picture of the BB below and it's clearly threaded, clearly not press fit.

I got all excited yesterday and ordered an SRAM RED BB30 crankset. Looks like that will have to be returned.

I'm back! Yippeee
There will be a problem with the deraileur hanger. Each one is specific to the frame. I have found that out the hard way and have a bent hanger. I have looked all over the place for one which will fit but none do.
With popular frames, it should be fairly easy to find what you want.
one try these,DERAILLEURHANGER.COM 2 i straightened mine when i bent it,3 any small tool shop with a milling machine shouyd be able to knock one up:thumbsup:

Yeah seems that way. Grr. The frame is obviously BSA 68 I'm 99% sure. Not particularly worried, I'll just have to send the RED crankset back

You can still put external bearings on it, is that not the same as the kaffenback?

Matthew, are you sure your bike has an integrated hanger. Post a picture, side on of your rear mech. From memory its the same mech fitted to many bikes - i.e. the basic shimano rear mech.

If it is, it's steel anyway and you can bend it straight with an adjustable spanner quite easily.

Yes I can put GXP, or Shimano Hollowtech, etc on it. However I'd ordered the SRAM RED BB30 in the mistaken belief the frame was BB30.

I'm not particularly worried. I'll just have to send the cranks back and either transfer the current cranks over or choose a different set.

Be glad it's threaded, BB30 is pants IME xx(

I converted my CAAD10 from BB30 to HollowtechII due to continous creaking issues, and it's been perfect ever since.

BB30 is great for what it was designed for, p
ro racers whose bikes are stripped and rebuilt every stage/race, but for the average Joe it's just an answer to a problem that never existed.

Interesting thanks. Feeling better already ...

Well, back from holiday and picked up my "new" bike today, the LBS having built the CAADX frame up from the mostly SRAM RED components on the Kaffenback. Exceptions, I had them put Shimano CX70 brakes on and went for Fizik Gel pads and tape. All set up within a gnats whisker of my bike fit.

Wow what a difference. Much lighter, despite the larger frame. So much faster, PB on my big hill loop tonight despite it raining sideways. Way more comfortable.

LBS was Racescene Barnsley who did a great job with the fit and build.
