I'm trying to cut down on what I carry to work, but the problem is, it's cold in the mornings and fairly mild in the afternoons!

I'm trying to leave the rucksack at home & just use a bum bag and seat pack, also I wore a short-sleeved top this morning with a thinner waterproof jacket instead of my Endura goretex one.

I have an expandable bum bag that turns into a rucksack if reqd and the seat wedge is quite big as well.

What do other members use? Rucksacks, panniers, bumbags?

Unbelievably, one of my biggest considerations is being able to get my hanky out and blow my nose, so I wear baggy shorts with pockets over my leggings.

Since mid-feb, I've been cycling just on shorts and short sleeved t-shirt + jersey. Everyday.

When it was raining, i'd pop on a rain-proof jacket and that was it.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I always use short sleeve jerseys all year round for the pockets for tissues .

In winter i use a long sleeve base layer + windproof + arm warmers.

Now the weathers nicer i can just use the SS jersey + arm warmers if it is nice and carry the windproof.

Legs are a bit more tricky ..
I always wear padded shorts.
In mid winters i use ron hill bikesters over the top and carry some fleece lined leg warmers for when its really biting.

Atm i have some running tights which i stick over the top but i can get betty swollocks if its really mild but i like to keep my knees covered early in the mornings, if i wear the leg warmers i can still get a chilly crotch early on though.

Saturday morning was an example of the weathers unpredictability as i cam home at 3 am after nights it was sub zero and i had to use works t shirt to keep myself warm, along with a borrowed pair of work clothes over my spring , thin fleece gloves.Luckily i still carry my neoprene overshoes !!

I use 2 small panniers to carry my stuff as i have a topeak road morph, 2 inners tubes, mini tool kit, tyre levers etc, work clothes, rain legs, sandwiches etc.

I had this issue, so need more space in the bag going home than I do in the morning, im now going to change from having shorts + leg warmers rather than shorts + trousers, which take up more space. Leg warmers are only really on to keep the road grime.

Currently though I carry a rack back on a beam rack, in the summer it will be left at work all week long the lines of a rucksack (as I used to) but I still would carry a lightweight coat in my rear pocket, and a thin top that fits in there, or squeeze into a saddle bag.

I ride in jeans a shirt, a nice thin benny hat ,hoddie and a high viz carry a dell laptop with charger and my lunch in my well loved laptop bag (had in 12 years from next) will lose the hoddie as it gets warmer

Went out yesterday and bought some Spesh leg warmers so I can hang the winter tights up at long last. Shorts and leg warmers on the way to work, just shorts on the way home with leg warmers in rucksack/hydration pack.

I've got a blue Bikehut hydration pack without the bladder (still use it for long weekend rides) which is just big enough for my mini shackle/cable lock, keys, wallet and a couple of layers of thin lycra, does the job very well.

I'm trying to avoid using any kind of backpack if I can...

What are leg warmers? Are they like the ones girls who like The Human League used to wear in the early '80s?

(excuse my ignorance  )

Neon 'Fame' style ones actually  !!

Wear them under shorts and when it gets warm just peel 'em off. Too cold in the mornings for just shorts, too warm in the afternoons for full tights.
