Hi,

Im going to buy the Dawes Vantage tourer and ive found a good price at http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Dawes-Vantage-2011-Touring-Bike_33048.htm . The bike comes to you full asembled (so does not void dawes warranty).

Im thinking about getting it on finance... I have the money to buy it BUT as im just getting into touring I want to buy some other equip (panniers, tent, other general cycling gear etc) and the idea is if I buy it on finance I wont notice it as much lol.

Anyhow, its interest free credit (would never pay interest) if you do it over 6 months, and you pay the same amount as if you buy the bike as normal money up front so its a good deal.

Just wondered if anyone on here has done this before with the same company? Tredz get there financing through a company called V12

Thanks!

Well if no one else has any advice to offer ...

I am guessing that the deal is that if you don' pay the full amount by the 6-month deadline you pay interest from Day one and the interest rate probably will be on the high side. There must be a significant proprtion of people who do forget, otherwise companIes wouldn't bother offering these deals.

With online banking it's fairly easy to set up a payment in advance. But given the lousy rates of interest on savings at the moment I'm not sure it's really worth the effort.

If you're attracted to the offer because it means you can go out and buy other kit now rather than wait - well maybe, but make sure you set the money aside rather than just mean to set it aside and then forget.

I don't know anything about V12 but they're on loads of websites and in loads of shops so not exactly a backstreet lender. As with most things if you've done your homework and can afford it go for it.

Interest free credit isnt allways as interest free as it sounds. When I bought my hybrid bike (not from Tredz but from an LBS) I haggled the price to as low as the guy would go then he offered a bigger discount if I didnt take the interest free finance.

I bought my Roadbike from Tredz (didnt use the finance) and found them a good company to deal with.

Thanks alot for the advice and replies! Im sure I'll be able to setup a direct debit (so i dont miss a payment) and there will definately be no cases of me not having enough money for the month so I think its a safe option
