Just ordered it now in matt black & charcoal as my winter trainer as recommended by the guys at my LBS, so I can wrap my Madone in cotton wool for the wet and cold weather. Any comments ??

Any comments ??

Only heard good things, a good bike for the money.

I don't know how you could have the will power to put the Madone away for the winter; my Bianchi is used throughout the year. To not use it would be too hard.

I know what you mean Herz but I want something more stable in the wet and windy weather that I know if I happen to drop it on a corner i'm not goin to crack my carbon frame :excl:

Herzog, I see you are riding a Sempre. I have just got an Infinito Ultegra 2012. What an amazing machine, almost went for the black 2012 Sempre, but my aged back will probably favour the more relaxed geometry. My wife who has a celeste green biannchi with campag gear thinks I'm a philistine for having a black bianchi with a japanese groupset, but I'll get over it

All my children have used a 2008 Trek 1.2 and his has been solid, reliable, sturdy and good.

It is tiny (43cm frame and 650 wheels) and it is now officially 'old', but it is still a Trek 1.2 and it has been wonderful.

I don't think you can go very far wrong with this level of Trek bicycle. It does what it does and that's what it does.

I'm thinking of getting one for audaxes - apparently it has clearance so you can fit proper mudguards:rain:

Yes it does have clearance for guards but it depends on tyre size etc, mine will be purely for winter rides as my main ride is my Madone which I dont want to crud up in our s***ty winters :boxing:

I have both a Madone and a Trek 1.2, my Madone is my workhorse and i ride it all year regardless of the weather, but for comfort, the 1.2 is the best, but as it is a double 53/49 and I live in a very hilly area, I ride the Madone the most as it is a triple, unless I know the ride will have nothing over 20%, then its the 1.2.

But despite the 1.2 being the most comfortabilist, over a long ride 70+ 100+ etc the Madone is the best, with it being carbon, you do not feel so battered as opposed to being shook to bits on the 1.2 at the end. Yet on the Madone, every day is different, sometimes my knees might hurt, another it maybe my quads, somedays nothing hurts, its a strange beast, yet on the 1.2, every day is the same, pure comfort from the moment I set off, just a battering from the road etc
