Trek 1.2 good beginner bike?

On my bike which is a triple, the front mech shifter has to be pushed over to the right by a long way. It has quite a lot of travel. I am sure you won't break it by the way.

Oh my bad... i had to push in the inner lever way farther.. im such an idiot it works now all good, thanks. Also today under the red lights my foot got stuck in the pedal and i fell right on the ground in a bunch of cars so embarrasing! The chain also came right off! And now my saddle and white bar tape is dirty
