Trek 6000 (about 5 years old)

I've just got a Trek 6000 bike, which the previous owner said was about 5 or 6 years old.

It's in a good condition, but needs some work to the gear system, with these all need replacing:-

The front triple chain ring
The rear 8 ring cassette
New chain

Are these a standard size, which means I can just buy online. A friend is a mad keen bicycle mechanic (as a hobby) so he'll be fitting them for me.

Before spending any money, you might want to establish for yourself what is worn first. See this.

You will need the make and model to order replacements and the number of teeth on the rings.

The cassette is probably shimano so all 8 speeds will fit however need to note range of teeth, I.e. 12 to 24 etc.

Any 8 speed chain will fit, I would recommend KMC.
