Trek madone 5.5 (performance) 2008 model

thanks for the link - I'd actually seen this one too.
I currently have a roubaix 56cm, but feel a bit stretched out on it. I'm 5' 9'' so right on the borderline for 54/56 according to specialized's sizing charts. I'm thinking 54 really.

The problem between the 5.5 & the 6.9 (or even the 6.5) is the huge price difference like the review says. Is the 6.9 really worth the extra couple of K+ compared to the 5.5?

I suppose its really down to you and how much you want to spend. This time of year and after Christmas, you should get a cracking deal, cash talks and all that! Evans are doing £1000 off the 6.9 at the mo, but sizes may be an issue. I have just found something of interest, I'll PM it to you!

apart from the wheel set, are the 5.5 & the 6.5/6.9 nearly the same bike?
if so, i could upgrade the wheels, in which case what is a god bet for front & back for under £1000?
