My new Triban 3 arrived this morning, looks great! Now we have to get to know each other, everything adjusted to about the right position, front derailleur needed a tweek, otherwise fine. Ran over all the nuts and bolts but they seemed fine and tyres at the right pressure. Spitting with rain so hopefully a ride tomorrow. ^_^

congrats. my front derailuer also needed a tweak and the chain was a touch long as well so had chain slippage in lower gears if trying to 'power up' an incline... not that I am very good at that bit...
don't let the rain deter you... they do manage it quite well and handle ice better than I had expected. So far I have not had to stop cycling because of either... now the sun may completely defeat me, but currently I have forgotten what that looks like.

Welcome to the Tribe!

I think a lot of people new to road biking having taken a punt on the Triban3 over the last 12 months! As long as you keep remembering how (comparatively) little you have shelled out for a road bike worthy of the name, then its reputation is deserved.

I bought one in the summer after reading around the webz and was gobsmacked by what my money bought me. You could do better secondhand with luck and a a fair wind but your 299.95 has bought a frame and carbon fork beyond reproach (for the money), a pukka (if lo-rent) Shimano STI gear system and some quality finishing parts (The brakes are rebranded Tektro and the bars, stem seat-post and saddle are pretty good by any standards)

The wheels are rather clumsy and heavy and there is some question over their long term road worthiness. The chainset is clanky pressed steel and the brake-blocks are made of cheese.....but mine was all good straight from the crate.

I have since bought better tyres, better brake blocks, pedals of choice and a new spanky but shorter stem to improve my fit.

The original tyres punctured twice in my first week - no problems since changing them. The brake blocks where ok...you can do do better for a few quid. My wheels are holding up...but I won't hesitate to upgrade them when needs must....and the chain broke after 400 miles or so...now replaced with a better one.

I suppose I lavished a hundred quid (probably less) on 'improving' what the bike came with...and maybe another hundred on (Aldi!) clobber, accessories, essential tools/spare and a few luxuries

I have just done a quick 'after-work' blast and have ridden it regularly since it arrived.

I love it. What was a 'wow-this is good for the money...') bike has become 'woaw this is SENSATIONAL (eerm...for the money-given I'd spent a bit more on it)

It is rare these days to get a little more than you pay for - but the Triban seems to pull this off. YMMV!!

You WILL have fun...but you might need to tweak and spend a bit to make it really sing for you.

All Best

Ive done over 1000 mile in the 12months ive had my T3 and I havnt had a puncture, havnt had a tyre issue, my wheels are still true (even after some shocking pot holes). I did have to tweek the front deraillier slightly to stop a bit of chain chatter but am well pleased. Especially with the price.
Highly reccommended.
All T5s welcome even white 'ns
