Yes, it's cracking value for money. The wheels are on the cheap side and you'd do well to strip, grease and adjust those bearings soon and unfortunately if you fit bigger tyres there won't be much room for even a skinny mudguard but my son has one and he loves it.

I have 25mm tyres on mine and I have managed to botch some of the SKS mudguards onto the bike, but it did mean using a hacksaw... they work a treat though even if the botch job could do with a little more professionalism in places... the trick is not to expect the mudguards to go under the brake levers at all. accept that and you are fine. (I tried some others first, but the rubber attachers failed and it came off.

First real ride today only ten miles but was pleased to see the increase in speed and the one hill I climbed seemed to hardly there! Gears worked a treat. Not tried the drops yet did the whole trip on the hoods.

I have only used the drops twice since I've been cycling. Maybe I should get the ends cut off the remove weight...... Where's my hacksaw..

This really for widge if he would like to reply.
So What better tyres/brakes, brake block did you buy was it really needed as I'm interested to know. As still pondering if I should go for this bike as all the reviews say its a rave bike for the money and as Ive not ridden a racer for nigh on 25/30 years. But (you knew this was coming! Why after all the mods youv'e done could you have got a better bike for £100.00 more and not had to bother with any mods at all? Best Regards Antnee

Well done on your T3 purchase . Mine is currently hibernating for the Winter months purely because living where I do the roads are covered in crap,hedge cuttings, and general debris washed down from the moors .In fact the roads look more like farm tracks than proper roads.Still love my T3 though but am currently using my MTB for getting around and I enjoy MTBing in the Winter. As soon as the days get a bit dryer I will get it out again. Cheers

I know what you mean Ant....but certainly - another hundred quid would still not have bought me the bike I have now.

Many factors at work here I think ....

The tyres didn't inspire confidence.... neither did the stock brake blocks. I just changed them sooner rather than later and would have done regardless of what bike they showed up on. I bought 'Clarks' triple compund road blocks v. cheaply and they simply stop better. Ditto the tyres....Rubino Pro Folders....lighter, better, faster ? Who knows? I feel better with them. The stem I changed for a shorter one....improved my fit and feel for the bike....nothing 'wrong' with the fitted one-I just wanted to try a shorter one. RaceFace 'Ride' 90mm.

Part of the fun for me is personalising my bike a bit without going silly. Small improvements to get exactly what I wanted and things that I would be prepared to address on any new bike.

Many thanks for your reply on this, as you say I suppose its good to perhaps put your personal touch on things. As in the case of a bike well if it makes it more efficent then why not?
Having been on the web and priced up you extras it doesn't seem a lot of dosh to shell out.

I've had my Trib for about six weeks now and it's a wonder to ride. I put a pair of 23mm Gators on it and bought some mudguards but they won't fit; has anyone had any luck with Tortec Road Reflectors on theirs? From what I've read I should change the brake blocks but I've had no issues with stopping so far.

I've no other experience with road bikes but would recommend this to just about anyone.

Hi Alan....I must admit that like you, I am using my trusty MTB out on these moorland lanes around Dartmoor at the moment.

My God.....my local roads have been WRECKED by this weather (and continuing lack of routine maintainence by DCC Highways) What are they like on your side of the Moor?

Nice to see how many forum members are fellow T3 owners.

As a beginner to road cycling buying a T3 was a no brainer! I did the usual research before plunging, scoured the net, Ebay, bike shop websites etc. I couldn't find anything within my budget that would suit me for a first bike. Enter the Triban 3. Read a few reviews, got the opinion of other cyclists.
After a short while my final decision was to get myself off to my nearest Decathlon and do the deed. Only £300 lighter in the wallet (plus a bit more for extras - helmet, lights, tubes, bottle and cage etc) and that was me sorted and on the long road that is cycling.
Unfortunately at the moment have had not many opportunities to get out and about on the bike owing to weather, work etc. I do intend on giving the bike some proper use as an aid to getting fitter, losing a bit of middle age spread and overall fun.

NB. Just knocked up a little forum for all fellow T3 owners, see what you think guys?

Ive done over 1000 mile in the 12months ive had my T3 and I havnt had a puncture, havnt had a tyre issue, my wheels are still true (even after some shocking pot holes). I did have to tweek the front deraillier slightly to stop a bit of chain chatter but am well pleased. Especially with the price.
Highly reccommended.

''Chain chatter'' is a great phrase! I've not heard it before but I really like it.

Anyhow, I don't have a Triban3 but I used to have its ancestor, the B'twin sport, which was pretty much the same frame and gear set up but with front forks that would shake your fillings out. It looks like they've spotted the old sport's weakest point and put it right without messing up its value for money.

They are bad full of gavel and god knows what else from horse`s,dog`s,livestock`s backsides. Also they recently trimmed the hedges which gave me 3 punctures even trying to avoid the thorns.The roads are more like tracks than tarmac and I don`t think the T3 would cope with all the debris on the road. That`s from the village up to the moor , but the moor road is fairly clear due to the amount of traffic using it. Just waiting for the ice to start then we will be cut off .
