Triban 5 vs GTR Series 5

Any views on which is better, and why?

Similar price range, but I don't know enough about bikes to understand the differences - can anyone help?

Carbon fork, 2300 groupset, double 16 gears

On the groupset alone, the Triban especially as you said before you live somewhere hilly I think, unless you are very fit and light, when you should be able to get up any hill in any gear

If the one you are looking at is black, then definitely the Triban

However - you need to ride them, the spec means diddly if the bike doesn't fit you...all things being equal the triban

Having not ridden a road bike before, it will feel unnatural to begin with whatever I buy.

Someone up in Scotland got a 5 in the week. Try another store. How much is the 7? If it is 600 with tiagra then definitely worth a look
