Triban 500 SE or Giant Defy 5 ?

Hey guys. I am gonna buy a bike, but I can't decide which one to pick .
Triban 500 SE or Giant Defy 5
I want to spend about 300 gbp.
Alternatively, would you recommend second hand bikes at this price ?
Could you please help me by sharing your thoughts or experiences ?
They are not far in terms of prices.

I'll do for sure. But I want to know is which one would serve better in commuting over short distances.

Either will be fine, although you might want to check if either take full length fixed mudguards. Giant do some specifically for the Defy, not sure what fit the triban models these days

If you want to have a pannier rack, check whether the bike has the lugs, although you can get around this with p clips if required

Personally I prefer a carbon fork for comfort, but it's not essential

thanks mate. I had forgotten about mudguards and pannier rack. Defy 5 seems better in terms of these details.
