Triple chainset for hybrid - 9-speed Shimano

Doing a cheap fix on a friend's Specialized hybrid - looking for a triple Shimano that will be happy with a 9-speed chain. Standard square axle type - not a hollowtech or anything like that. Not worried about weight or anything like that, but not knackered - no sharks fins! Thanks.

Might have an old Tiagra triple in the box of spares. Cant recall whether it's Octalink or Sq Taper. Will go have a look later if you are interested.
OTH for a hybrid you might find the smaller rings of one of these a better bet than the road ring sizes ?

Thanks a lot for that. The ones at that link look just about the perfect thing - don't know for sure how he feels about the ring sizes, and he's in Grimsby right now - back at the weekend. But I'll ask him. If you did manage to dig out the Tiagra and find it's a square, perhaps you could confirm the ring sizes on that? Thanks again.
