why bother, unless weight is crucial? triples offer a greater spread of ratios, and usually a lower bottom gear than a compact, not to mention a higher top gear.
the groupset that i have had transferred to a new carbon frame doesnt lend itself to accomodate a triple. therefore i'm using the outer two rings of the triple at the present, which is fine most of the time but on climbs i need to have a smaller ring than the middle on my triple that i'm having to use.
is the bottom bracket in the new frame one designed for double chainsets? if so it would be cheaper to replace the bb with a triple one rather than replace the chainset.
