I'm thinking of changing the triple cranks on my main bike to a double. Currently it has all ultegra-sl triple crank, shifters, front derailleur and medium cage rear derailleur.
Am I right in thinking that all I need to change as well as the crank is the front derailleur? I'm assuming I can then use the front derailleur limit stops to restrict the shifter to two chainrings only. Would I need to change the rear derailleur to a short cage one or would it be ok as it is?
At the moment a change is just a bit of speculation fuelled by seeing some cheap cranks popping up from time to time. Just that in Suffolk, I've never used the smallest chainring and using the outer one all the time seems to speed up chain wear a little
