Stopped at a pedestrian crossing to let an old lady across, and she wheeled a dark brown bike across with "Triumph" across the downtube (that looked almost as old as she was!!).

Looked like the same type of writing on the logo that is used on the motorcycles - same company?

Cheers,
Shaun

An old one well looked after?

He he ... don't think it was the German model.

Good site though, and just shows you that motorised bicycles are not a "new" idea: http://oldbike.wordp...orized-tandems/

Oh, and I noticed on one of the Triumph catalogues it said Raleigh across the bottom - Confused?, You will be

Cheers,
Shaun

If you go to Wiki, it seems the bike company preceeded the motor cyle element of the company.

As an aside, despite using the slogan, "Built like a gun", Royal Enfield bicycles were nothing to do with the factory that built the world famous Enfield rifle.

My Sister has a Triumph ladies step through. 26 x 1 3/8", Sturmey AW3, Full Sturmey lampset, sprung Middlemore saddle, colour co-ordinated mudguards, chain guard and saddlebag.

Two tone blue. Lovely bike. Don't see many two tone Navy and Royal blue saddlebags these days.

IIRC, our Mom's sister Doris commuted on it through the sixties, seventies and eighties.

I notice that one of the older adverts proudly claims that the machines were built with

'No Female Labour'
