Hi

I have my lycra stuff for the road bike / commute.

What I'd like is something that I can wear when I'm out with the family and my 2 year old on the back of the bike in the child seat.

I don't mind wearing cycling shorts underneath so they don't need to be padded.

I won't be spending much money on them (£20 tops say)

But I don't want something that flaps around in the wind/gets caught in the chain because they are too wide at the bottom.

Thoughts/recommendations?

Thanks

How about 3/4 length? The cycling specific ones aren't cheap though, e.g. http://www.cycle-clo...oolmax-pad.aspx

Try SportsDirect as you have the padding http://www.sportsdir...e-quarter-pants

Or maybe the Craghopper type trousers from TK Maxx (some must have elastic cuffs)

or Karrimor from SD

Or Millets http://www.millets.co.uk/category/clothing/men/trousers-and-shorts/walking-and-active-trousers.html

You'll need to use clips or tuck them in your socks perhaps?

Velcro is working for me so far, I went for 36 reg, normally i am loose 38 but they come up large and the inside leg is the longer length they quote. I am happy with them.

The other option is to use the Endura trousers. Cycle specific design in that the right leg has velcro tighteners and you can clip an insert in ... but for touring or commuting are fine and will pass muster for an evening in the Pub

However outside your budget.

The only on budget answer is going to be the TKMaxx Craghopper solution

Craghoppers 3/4 here for under a tenner - just bought some, don't know if they're any good for cycling yet!

I picked up some Craghopper Kiwi's about a month ago, and I've used them for every ride since. They are great soft material, most water beads up and runs off and they dry quickly if they do get wet, very comfortable with some stretch in the material but they are just about smart enough to wear all day at work. They cost me £14 from TK Maxx.
