I thought about getting the train into london with my son on a sunday and cycling round a nice loop taking in the sites and a few of the parks. I have a Garmin 705 and want to plot a route on Mapmyride and upload it. The thing is my knowledge of london is worse than useless, so can anyone tell me where to head towards in a loop back to Euston station. I'd like to take in the usual, St. Pauls cathedral, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, a cycle along the thames over tower bridge through a couple of the parks and back to Euston station.

capital ring is worth a look?

this isnt really central london as you have asked for so I am probably wasting your time! worth a look I think as it is quieter roads...

central london is a bun fight to be honest, although better at the weekends...I would just plot out where you want to go to and map your route between those places with the garmin...generally trying avoid the bigger roads

certainly on the landmarks that you have named, it is more than possible to cover, although you will encounter some of the bigger roads by default more than anything

also may be worth a search of garmin connect

I'm thinking...

South down to Holborn, hang a left and head to St Paul's, keep going to Bank and turn right then left onto Upper Thames St and head up the hill to Tower bridge. Follow the river on the south side back until Blackfriars Bridge then head North across the river and turn left onto Embankment then follow it all the way to Parliamant Sq, go all the way round the sq and come back up Whitehall then turn left at Trafalgar Sq under Admiralty arch then down the Mall. Hang a right at the Queen's gaff and go up to Hyde Park Corner, through the park to Bayswater rd, turn right and over the roundabout at Marble arch then left turn up Baker St to Marylebone Rd. Keep going up and I think it'll take you to the western side of Regent's park. Do a cheeky lap of the park (think it's called the outer circle here) and left back onto Marylebone Rd / A40 back along to Euston....

Oh! What a wonderful idea of cycling around the scenic beauty laden London. This can be the best experience ever on a bicycle. You would never feel the boredom of traveling by bus.
