I'm going to put some bull bars on my commuter bike, which is an old Raleigh mountain bike frame with its original cantilever brakes on it. I had assumed that it would be a relativey easy job to procure some bars (or cut up some old drops) and get a pair of TT style brake levers and just cable them up to the cantilever system.

Is this assumption correct or do I have to look at special 'cantilever' brake levers? Doubt has crept in after reading the descriptions on different products - some seem to specifically state they can be used with cantilever brakes - like these:

Whereas others don't mention it, like these:

But surely a lever is a lever and if it pulls the cable up it'll work...right?

Levers which work with calliper brakes will also work with cantilevers.
