Fuzzy? Maybe. Existential contemplation? Nah. First load of laundry in t'machine and soon to hang on t'line, as it is Not raining. Then hedge clipping, as the hedge sparrow army seem fledged. Start on those scratchy hawthorn leaders anyway, loadsa them.

Hasn't got 'Tuesday' in the title.
Also, the day of the week has to be the first word. You are just confusing people and laughing bwahahahaha in the corner.
I told you this is a long apprenticeship but oh no, you young un's just think you know better.
I remember when people used to go out on real bicycles - none of this cheapy Chinese carbon plastic cr4p. 24 gears?! 24 gears?!? Used to strap 2 dustbin lids to yer ankles and do a 6 hour ride before breakfast. You can still see the scars outside Hawes when Tubby Arkwright's legs cum unbolted at a hundered and fifty ar pee em on t' fixed...
Now then lad, tha nos tha's wasted a perfectly good "a" n misplaced yer glottal stop in thatt there last part.

Morning Wasters and thread duplicators,

Another day WFH. Dropped one of the bikes off at the LBS for a bit of worn out part replacement, collecting some time this afternoon. In the meantime, have a bit of work to do...

Race report from Sunday, too lazy to post it on Monday.

Saturday was a relativly early start packing MrsHD off to the lakes with her mates for a 50th get together.
9am got all my final bits together into various big shopping bags
10.30am set off to Bolton town centre to Register for Bolton Ironman 70.3, bought two espresso cups from the expo along with a bargain pair of shorts, picked up various transition bags, Tshirt, IM backpack and my wristband.

Sorted the running gear in the correct bag and dropped it off at T2 in Queens park, approx 500m away from the finish line.
Picked up the truck and drove down to Pennington Flash to rack my bike and drop my cycling gear in T1.
Got home around 4pm to make a fairly carb heavy but bland dinner in order to avoid stomach issues on race day.
Did very little, watched TV with a G&T ready for an early night.

RACE DAY - Sunday 8th of June.

2am alarm call.
Small breakfast, filled bottles with Tailwind, had a decent brew and got some final bits together, 3am out of the door.
3.30am, arrive in Bolton, parked up and found the athlete shuttle bus for the trip down to Penningto Flash.
5am, arrived on site as planned.
Checked my bike over, fitted my garmin and bottles, checked cycling bag was still in the changing tent and went for a wander around.
5.45 change in to wetsuit and then 6am, final bag drop which takes your street clothes up to the finish line, filed into the start pen for the 6.15 start.
6.15, BOOM, 1500 athletes entering the water in threes every six seconds. As I was towards the back of the pen the first swimmer exited the lake before I'd even got in in a time of 24 minutes.
~7am I got into a nice cold murky lake and off I went...
The swim went as well as can be expected, the surface was quite choppy due to the wind and it was a busy swim. I swallowed a few mouthfulls along the way, belched a bit and managed to not be sick in the face of the other swimmers.
44 minutes later on my watch (44:36 chip time) and I was out again and off to T2.
8am after a leisurely transistion (15:07) which included a full dry off and change into bike gear as well as a toilet stop and small snack I got on the bike for double loop of the Flash and its surrounding areas. Then the route headed towards Bolton town Centre and another double loop of the outer areas, I was feeling fine all the way and keeping up a decent 27km/h average speed. The only real climbs appear twick on the double loop which started around 60km. At 70 my legs started to feel the strain and it started raining pretty hard. Also the wind picked up so it was a little chilly.
Bike split was 3hrs 29 according to Garmin (3h:32 chip time as there was no signal coming out of T1 due to the trees so I reset the unit thinking it was my stuff at fault).
Got into T2 quite comfortably, again a full change into run clothes and a snack and loo stop (9:38) and off on to the run section which was two loops including the town centre, Queens Park and a long stretch of road with a U turn at the end.

I hadn't done a single brick run in training and it turns out I didn't need to as backing off the pace on the last few KM's of the bike seemed to relax my legs.

The run was the worst part though, I saw MrsHD and some of the family and friends a few times on the first loop as it's quite easy for spectators to nip between buildings along the route for multiple view points.
The park has a few steep sections so by this point it was a run/walk effort. Then a loooooonnnng uphill drag for a few miles and back down again, through the park, hit the centre and off for another loop. I had to take my trainers off a few times as my feet were on fire by now so used the water stations as places to bothe rest and rehydrate.
2hrs:29:17 after starting the run I crossed the finish line in slightly better shape than I expected, picked up my medal, goody bag and a few slices of pizza. Met up with everyone and got my bike etc and back to the car.
Stopped off for a pint on the way home and went our to the local pub for a nice dinner and a few wines.

I suffer with a dodgy stomach at the best of times so running quite often leaves me having to dash in to a local cafe however my meal and nutrition plann that I'd been working on was spot on. SIS baked carb bars in T1 & T2, Cliff blocks on the bike with Tailwind in the bottles and High 5 gummies on the run with water at the aid stations. I did have a few Buscopan in the morning and some immodium instants before the race though just to be safe.

IM do put on a good event which is well managed and the atmosphere all around the c ourse was great with loads of people sat on their drives cheering us on.
I'm not sure I've got the real deal of a fully blown Ironman in my at my current level but you never know...

Evening
Another hot one here 32 degrees, went in to Florence on the train. Some nice buildings but like most city’s dirty and full of dodgy folk.
Now waiting to go for dinner, might have drink in a minute.

Good effort though you should have slept in the changing tent and saved all that early travelling bother ^_^

Not been on one of those yet, do you need to book a bike on?

Yes, the bikes are free but need to be booked as there's only 2 spaces. I've never not got my bike on. Today was the first time it had gone in the hold rather than in the wheelchair bit but it was fine. There was only about 8 of us on. I'm not sure how many people want to go to Fort William (or Lochearnhead) in the middle of the day. The earlier option was to leave before 6.
Fills the Beeching gap between Dunblane and Crianlarich nicely.
