Clear blue skies over East way...and still.

Got a car to pick up this morning: drive round the bypass or ride over the hills?

Coffee will help decide.

Coffee numero uno consumed. Meeting with a needle in the arm in less than an hour, better get organised enough to limp down the street.

Morning.
Traffic chaos today. Left later to miss traffic but it seems that the world and it's lobster of Shirkers From Home go into the office on Tuesdays.
Earlier in the day - Mouse Drama! Discovered some nibblement in the loft storage. Set humane mouse trap two nights consecutively, baited with dark chocolate and peanut butter, apparently a menu irresistible to mices. Two nights in a row the food was taken and the mouse had scarpered. Got out the Weapon of Mouse Destruction and laced with the same bait. Put it in loft this morning and within 40 mins the f'ker was a gonner. Disposed of in the back lane for discovery by a lazy cat to impress it's owner with its fakery.

Coffee and work and more coffee I expect.

Had to give it a quick blast of the fan heater in the cave first thing to get up to operating temperature. Usual meetings due to start shortly, at least the Kingdom of Far Far Away didn't put any early ones in the diary. Junior appears to be getting into the swing of her vet job, no dramas 2 weeks in - fingers crossed. Main thing is that she's off my payroll now 🙂

Usual routine this morning, open car, put empty mug on car roof (take a clean coffee mug into work each day, can't do this rinse it out under a tap at work nonsense!), lock front door, put mug in mug holder*, start car and drive off.
2 mins down the road and am receiving funny looks from other drivers, start hearing this strange clunking sound. Think it's the exhaust, but appears to be coming from above, carry on driving, clunking getting louder and louder. Look down at mug holder to see no coffee mug present!
Managed to pull over and retrieve it from the roof. On the negative side this was a worrying memory lapse, on the positive side my driving must be smooth if I managed to travel half a mile with a mug on the roof and it didn't fall off!

*still convinced I put it in the mug holder 😂

Afternoon
Bright and chilly again here. Just spent most of the morning at the Arboretum, there’s a enclosed area where you can let dogs of the lead. So we spent an hour testing Bertie’s adherence to recall commands and trying to tire him out. Which might have succeeded.

0730 breakfast today and now halfway to Oban, at a surprise cafe along Loch Awe at Dalavich, good coffee and cakes!
Excellent ride so far today.

Ah, the Loch Awe road: scene of my wife's nightmares. Did it north south this year and foolishly followed a gravel trail nearer the loch which I thought might grant me protection from the hills. How wrong I was: every bit as hilly and the added challenge of fallen trees.

Nice people in Dalavich. The pub let me camp in their playground when the heavens opened.

Hope you're following the NCN route to Oban rather than the West Coast Cycle Trail one via Loch Nant. There's a locked gate that was so frustrating that I almost considered kicking down the adjacent fence to get over.

Keep the route reports coming.

Excellent ride so far today.

Loch awe ten years ago with two kids in the trailer being pulled by me on a single speed mountain bike - decent work out that!
