Morning

Breezy, mild and sunny.
Seems like a pedalling day.

First: coffee

They've just resurfaced my regular quick blast route so I feel your joy on the smooth roads. I'll have to settle for the North Downs Ridge instead of volcanoes though.

Morning Workers, Shirkers and Holiday Makers,

Another hot night but slept better due to lowering my core body temp last night with lots of ice in my G&T. Working in the cave where it is warming up gradually and dealing with various pieces of stupidity.

Morning
A bit cooler today. Just having second coffee on lower patio, later will be some stretching and climbing.
Might need to go and some supplies before daughter dearest and grandson land later in the week.

Morning peeps. Day spent running around like headless chicken so far as several people off. Plus I've been dump with spotty faced work experience oik. Could be worse, it could be 30 plus degrees again and oik could be head down in mobile phone land. He actually seems interested unlike most.

After 2 glorious days on the bike, I'm heading south to see if my Alzheimer's ravaged mother recognises me.
Not sure whether to insist that my kids witness her in her current state.

12 hours into the day and people are flagging, we may need an hour on the terrace before tonight’s festivities.
I’m fine though as I’m accustomed to ruining my internal organs occasionally.

That's a difficult one.
Studies have shown that even in advanced states of Dementia and Alzheimer's, sufferers can recall in great detail points in their lives - particularly through music. So, if you play some background music from her teens and 20's, she may exhibit a raised awareness. Although, it will have her talking lots about then rather than the present.

Not easy WM, best wishes. I have a pal, we first met in work back in late 80s, kept in touch over the decades, he has Alzheimer's, his missus is taking care of him, sad to see and engage with him.

On brighter note, I must be (slowly slowly) combating the endemic lethargy, summoned enough energy today to get back on with the hedge trimmings. Progress. 🤞

Will hear what the bloods tests are showing when I have the follow up appt on Thursday. At least I didn't this time get the urgent call from the GP when results came back.... Maybe licking the railings / guzzling the IrnBru et al are working?

Afternoon.
What a scorchio Betty Swallocks kinda day.
Sorry to hear about your mum WM. Not an easy time. My wife's BiL had early onset Alzheimers when he was just 63. It got him real quick unfortunately and only lasted 3 years. Very sad. Hope your mum is comfortable at least.

Busy day before headig back to work. Shopping. Nice and cool in Sainsburys. Baking bread x3. White loaf in bread maker and Daughter an I handmaking some wholemeal/rye/seed loaves. To hot to knead really. At least it proves quickly! Yeast based as sourdough starter isn't ready.

Going for a ride with wife and the 2x young adults (apparently) this evening. It'll be cool in the tunnels.

As has been said, it's a tricky one. I had a similar decision 7/8 years ago with my old dear who had vascular dementia. On balance I reckon it's better that kids see the reality - dementia is one of the big killers along with The Big C & heart disease and a fact of life for many families. But maybe not force them into it.
