It occurred to me yesterday when realising I had no dry stuff to wear that I have always followed the labelling on cycling gear and air dried clothing, never tumble drying. Has anyone ever ignored the label and tumble dried cycling gear? Any major disasters having done so?

All the time in the past. No disasters.

The label means nothing more than the manufacturer has not gone to the time or expense of testing in that manner, so its an arse covering label. Ditto "dry clean only" labels.

Our latest dryer has a setting for it. Though not use yet as still prefer to air dry & generally drys quite quick compared to other washing.
Noticed some waterproof jackets recommend occasionally tumble drying after cleaning

I tumble dry my cycling gear in the office

You work in a launderette?

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
If all of my cycling kit was in the wash at once, meaning I had no dry kit to wear, I'd need an extra washing machine. Or two.

Never personally, I would have though silicone grippers and the like might not get on with it very well.
I do use a Dri (Or Dry?) Buddy though, which is a little tent dryer thing, and that works really well, especially for shorts - I can hang probably 5 pairs of shorts in there at a time, and also a raft of socks etc.
