Many years ago I actually met the writer of that song at a music convention. An Italian chap called Pierro.

Had a classic example of this. Came home singing this terrible song which I probably haven't heard since '86 when it was a hit, so who knows where THAT came from. My wife is French and so had never heard it before, so it was very tempting to do a 'Gary Sparrow' and claim it as my own work. I somehow resisted!
