Hi all,

I have some new routes plotted in Strava. Is there any way to get these so they give a turn by turn navigation (like a sat nav) either though Strava or a third party app on iPhone? The routes are in unfamiliar locations and I don't really want to be pulling out the phone every 5 mins!

TIA!

Can I import route from Strava?

I use the paid for ridewithgps. It's $6 a month, but if you are just using a phone rather than a Garmin, it's worth it for me.
You can use other people's routes as well as your own. If you have a gpx file you can load it into the app then trace it, clicking along the line and save it as a new file with cues. You need to do it on a PC. Then log in to it on your phone and download the route to ride it. I have recently started to use ear buds ( I put one in my left ear and leave one dangling tucked into my top) via Bluetooth so I can hear all the turns. The voice cues are much clearer to follow than the Google maps ones. If you want to repeat a ride, (I did a recce for a club ride) then you can record it in the ridewithgps app as you go, then do the trace and click on it on the pc and save it as a route.
There are lots of how to videos and the help desk are indeed very helpful.
I haven't worked out how to upload a ride from strava yet. I've been having two windows open on the pc and visually copying bits I want to do again.

+1 on paid ridewithgps. You can save your ride on Strava as a .gpx (you need to do this on the desktop version) then upload to ridewithgps.

So to clarify, go onto strava online via desktop, export then send to iPhone for upload to ridewithgps app. Nothing else to do?

I uploaded via the desktop app on ridewithgps as well - I'm not sure if you can send direct to iPhone but I haven't been using ridewithgps for that long so it might be possible, I just haven't tried uploading that way. Hopefully someone who's been using it longer can clarify.

After you have uploaded the record of the ride gpx file from strava into ridewithgps, you then have to convert it into a route with cues using the copy and trace feature, then save it and only then download it onto your phone.

Sounds a bit of a faff. Better learn my routes!
