Other than turning up in lycra (and that's probably never going to happen) I can't think of any way I can cycle to work without pouring with sweat once I arrive. Fortunately I don't get bad BO, but it's still kinda gross for my colleagues.

My wife suggested I simply cycle slower, but...

Can anyone suggest anything magical that can stop me looking like Gollum for the first hour of work in the morning?

leave a towel and some wet wipes at work.

I take a change of clothes and get there 10-15 minutes early so I can change slowly while I cool off. I also don't stink after being sweaty so I don't have to take a shower but there are showers at my place if needed. I am lucky that we have to change into cleanroom suits so we have seperate male and female locker/changing facilities so stripping off to my underwear after arriving doesn't pose a problem but I guess this wouldn't go down so well if you wanted to do this at your desk in an office

have changed completely from lycra shorts and cycling top into civvies sat at my desk in an office. a little bit of practice and it is easy .

preffered it when we had showers but as we slowly decant from the media centre ( no showers so journos are obviously not expected to cycle to the park) the temp facilities get taken away.

Wear less.
Shorts and t-shirt is adequate in this weather. Its a problem when it gets hotter, though, as there is nowhere to go in terms of less clothes without getting arrested.

Wear lycra, it's what it's designed for. To dissipate sweat.
You will soon get used to wearing the stuff once you find out how comfortable it is.

You could always wear lycra shorts under baggies.
And lycra tops don't have to be figure hugging.

I wear lycra for 'leisure' riding so I kinda guessed it came down to manning up and dressing down. I work for quite a blokey engineering firm but it's not like I've put any effort into being blokey in any way!

Mind you, I reckon Lycra is the cycling equivalent of 'tough guys wear pink'.

I've still got the lycra I used to wear on stage in the loft, but I reckon the 'stuffings' would get me arrested on my daily commute.

I've just started a new commute, it's just over 4 miles and I ride the slow bike and enforce a 13mph limit on the way in.

It takes me about 20 minutes but there's no washing required and, although I do wear my cycling kit when riding, I don't need to. If I pushed hard, I could do it in about 12 minutes, but I'd then need 30 minutes to shower and I'd have a bag full of smelly clothes under my desk all day.

I get home a little faster, though.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Get some lycra and sod what others think !
I work in a male enviroment , i think theres 2 women out of about 400 people and initially i got a lot of comments but i just ignored them and people got used to what i wear .
The funniest comment lately was when i overtook a youth from work on his BSO in the rain and he said i look like a wet condom

As mentioned above, you can't beat lycra. I'm Still using my thermal Northwave bib tights&jersey and get to work sweat free. I have non thermal shorts&short sleeve jersey in the bag for if it's above 10 degrees on the way home. You can buy lycra in dull plain colours if you don't want to stand out too much.
