It was ok, very low budget with no real structure. Becca was ok and brought enthusiasm. Definitely missed Gary and Ned plus all the extras. Can’t imagine a sprint stage….

Prefer Becca to "LOOK AT ME" Orla. Hope she gets the chance to do more analysis as the race develops.
But never going to be anywhere near as good as C4/ITV4

Thought it was a decent highlights show but a bit hard to tell with it being the TTT, the road stages will give a better idea.
Good to be able to watch the catch up version with no ads though, for some reason if you watch 5 via chromecast it cuts out the ads.

Remember they are also trying to make a program that appeals to the general TV viewer and not wholly cyclists.
Showing race happening and scenery are properly a higher priority than an in depth analysis of the last km or whatever.

For those missing Ned and David, they're doing YT/podcasts with Pete K and Lizzie D https://www.youtube.com/@loveofcycling/videos Bit delayed compared to the 5 highlights, but.....

Everything that's gone wrong with podcasts, I'm afraid. I want to listen whilst I'm doing something else, not sit watching something with poor production values. And whilst I'm listening, I don't want them to make references to stuff that's on screen.

I like Ned but think I'll be sticking with TCP plus a bit of Watts Occurring

I'm with you, the trend for video podcasts absolutely baffles me. I have max 1 hour a day when I can sit down and watch TV and I'm not going to spend that watching a zero budget chat show.

Totally ad revenue driven, I'm afraid. I remember the NSF episode where they found out that they'd forgotten to click on the 'monetise' flag on their host platform. Now Ned's knocking back the shill pills like ad addict. Neds must I suppose.

Can't blame him I guess, he lost what was probably one of his main income sources when itv shut down their Tour coverage.

Apart from the increased ads the new podcast platform seems to have taken something away from what was Never Strays Far though, not helped with Pete and David having different commitments now and appearing less on the pod.

Watched most of the C5 highlights last night, as expected it was nowhere near the ITV4 / C4 level of production but vastly superior to the TNT / D+ / ES version. Picking the key parts of the action, breaking them up with some voice over stuff but still just the chunks of TNT commentary. It will be useful on days where I can't watch live coverage but that's about it. At least it keeps it alive for the wider public though which is probably the most important role C4 and ITV4 played although without the other bits that gave it colour and probably made it more enjoyable for the casual viewer.
