No...TV is brilliant!!

You just gotta know how to make it work FOR you.

Talk to sky or Virgin and get a quote for the Sky/Virgin Plus set up...its brill (virgin is best as it allows more recording)

then, set the box to record only the stuff you like..and settle down one night a week (friday is best) with a bottle of red and a bag of nibbles, and watch all the stuff you want and nothing more.

Other than "Xfactors-got-talent-out of here", I've managed to avoid crap TV for months.

Plus the "plus kit" is cheaper than my telly /braodband/phone costs used to be years ago...

Last night I sat down and watched the Italian Job, Top gear and the last episode of Defying Gravity without a clue as to what else was on (and with no adverts).

Also had some enforced TV watching over Xmas while visiting... some decent films I guess.

Also last episode of Dr Who which I thought was underwhelming - still using the lazy, silly sci-fi devices of

- Shooting a control panel somehow disables an entire ship.
- A space ship that still requires people to sit in nacelles and aim the guns? Right...
- Said huge ship can out-manoeuvre tiny missiles? Right...
- Planet/sun type thing appears in easy visual distance of Earth yet its gravity apparently has no effect even after several minutes?
- Was there some reason he didn't just put a brick through the glass interlocked thing to free the old man? And what moron designs a control desk enclosure thingy which can end up 'pumped full' of radiation? If you must have a containment system, then put the controls outside it somewhere safe!
- etc etc

Sure, it's a TV show but still...

Because then when it did flood, the radiation would have got out.... Anyway, that glass was probably brick proof.

It's science fiction, you know... If it was all logical and true, the whole premise wouldn't exist.

I watched Wallander last night too, enjoyed it, but then, Kenneth Branagh can't do much wrong for me. Before that I was watching the Simpsons movie on 4. Before that I listened to the radio over dinner, before that I watched (for the second time) the last part of Dr Who...

we watched wollander and that was another old load of crap

So crap, you can't even spell it, when you have a couple of correct examples to follow?

I think the problem might be, you don't have very good taste....

Box sets is the way forward. Get one, work your way through it and when finished move on to the next.

There are loads of good stuff

The West Wing
The Sopranos
The Wire

Just 3 to start you off

You'll get them all for about 50 quid this time of year in the sales.

Hours and hours of fun
