Twice in a day???

Would you wear used kit for a second ride a few hours later?

Yes, because I would still be wearing it from the first time.
Same here: if it's commuting or short utilitarian rides, I'm not going to change.
If I get soaked on the commute (I wear normal clothes plus a cycling jacket), the clothes will be dry by the time I'm finished, meantime I wear my uniform.
I would change only if I get home wet then have to head out again.
On tour I'll change leggings every day, tops every two days.

What’s this “commuting”? Don’t you just come downstairs and stick the coffee machine on?
I'm surfing CC whilst the gf is watching tv. I hear Anthony Bourdain mention wearing a pyjama top and no bottoms.

So what do you wear on your commute?

I ride go work and shower and hang my gear up to dry. I ride home in the same gear and it comes in the shower with me. In the morning it is dry.

But you should see the Transcontinental riders when they turn up at CP2

I always did that when commuting - when damp it's quite unpleasant for the first few minutes but when it's next to your body and heats up it's barely noticeable. it won't smell much either, hardly time for the bacteria to start farting, but it may well smell after the second ride but will need washing anyway. I'm all for saving washing.

Ah but rode to Paris from home and rode back. So three rides, 2000km..
I washed my kit when I arrived, showered & changed halfway round, washed everything when I finished, so had clean kit again on the way home.

This time of year there’s no way I’d wear my kit for a second time in a day without washing it first. Heat index was 101F yesterday and after only a quick hour sprint my kit is soaked in about 3 pints of sweat. After it’s cooled it’ll be worse that putting on a wet wetsuit. Oh and the smell, the wife barely lets me in the house after a ride in clean kit.
