TBH it's never that bad in Bristol. I've only had 2 incidents in a year of commuting that were 'life threatening'. I usually get 1 or 2 acts of utter rudeness a week but I just mutter and shake my head.
I think quite a few of the commuter forum posters live in London. Frankly, when I was up there for a trade show last year and walked from Paddington to the show (2 miles), I was shocked by the amount of impatient idiocy from motorists, pedestrians and cyclists alike. It's like a bloody war zone in some places and it is obvious that the road system can't cope with the volume of traffic.
