Pashleys aren't there for lightness

My unladen all hubbed Ute bike, with a quality lock weighs 21kg.

You don't notice once it's rolling along.

I alwaya get a wow that's light moment if I do pick up my roadie

Now you're off the featherlight machines weight will get less of a consideration.

My wife's is heavier - it is the older Princess with push rod brakes. It is a complete pain for me to unhook it from the wall for her.

As the owner of several rod braked roadsters, you really won't notice once you're rolling along.

A proper 28" wheeled roadster with sensibly chosen gear ratio(s) is a real pleasure to ride on rolling country roads.

16 kg isn't that heavy really. Especially compared to a rider.

16kg? It's lighter than either of my bikes. (17 & 18kg unladen)

I would imagine my 29er would weigh about the same fully laden and that rolls lovely

I'd be surprised if something designed for speed was 16kg, but not that.

That's a fine weight for a city bike, with basket, sprung leather saddle, chain guard, skirt guard, IHG etc etc.

A quick glance at mountain bikes on halfords, sorted from cheapest shows that's a lightweight compared to some of the bikes on there.

My Genesis Day One with saddlebag, water bottle and pump is probably north of 13kg, and while it's no TT bike it rolls along nicely.

My 21kg single speed Paper Bike (RIP, 3 Scottish winters made her into a rust bucket) was heavier!
As said above, once they start rolling they are unstoppable.
