it should be marked...it's a shame though that we even need such things...if car drivers would just chill, drive safely, legally and calmly these things wouldn't be necessary.

It's on a cycle path. No cars allowed for a fair part of the track. These speed humps are for cyclists.

oh really...is there a cycle speed limit? I guess its for ped safty...fair enuff....but yeah it needs to be marked and a sign up, like on the roads saying 'speed humps'.

The thing is, it looks like there's been an assumption that cyclists would be a danger, I doubt if any metrics have been gathered, how many cyclists/peds are using it. Just seems like a knee jerk reaction. Like I said further up, they don't generally build new roads and immediately put speed humps in, they measure speeds, accidents then re-evaluate - which may or may not result in speed calming measures.

I can think of a few places where that has happened.

I probably can think of one, maybe.

But like I said "they don't generally"...i.e. not in all cases. I'd expect the council to be able to show their working out when putting in traffic calming measures.

This cycle path in question might never have seen an injury in our lifetimes, but a speed hump, put in place to protect people is the direct cause of an accident and the route has only just opened.

I am glad its been highlighted now, but don't see the need for a speed bump at all.

Where is this route? Do you have a google map of it?

Below is the route Dodgy kindly put up in another thread...said speed bump is approx 2.1 miles on the Ridewith GPS link

The blue dotted line on here shows the route http://www.sustrans.org.uk/map

I also knocked this up to show the route http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2181571 Note that when the route gets to the Dee, you can turn left into Chester, I just draw the route into Hawarden Bridge as that is a recognisable place in Wales.

PS - Was that one of you guys on the bike with bright orange jacket, taking photos just by the new gate by the range flag?
