Hello,

First post to the forum. In May I bought a Sirrus 3.0 XL from Specialized. While I was riding it this week I had the left crank fall off. Before that it was making a lot of creaking noises. A friend put some lube on it which stopped the noise but shortly after the crank fell off. I have read that Specialized issued a stop-ride and recall of the bikes in the Sirrus line to fix the problem. They say it’s a quick and simple fix so I brought it to my retailer and unfortunately they have to keep it because they have to order the part from Specialized. I am still under warranty as well.

My question is if I don’t want to wait for the part to get here. Could I put a different crankset on the bike and pay for it? How much would a decent crankset cost? I’m assuming I’d want to stick with Shimano?
