...Set off to cycle the 6 miles to work and got to the end of the road only to find that my rear tyre was punctured and completely flat.
Rushed back to the house and grabbed my old (backup) bike, intended for situations just like this one. 4 miles in, there was a loud fizz-bang and the front tyre went flat. And of course, all the bike-repair stuff I have neatly packed in my bag was for my new, not old, bike - including the replacement inner tubes.
I set off walking the last two miles half expecting one of my shoes to spontaneously catch fire.
