thanks all, as ever

as for the frame, let alone the forks, stop it! I promise to post a pic of the front wheel though, it's impressive, promise

Lee, you have to be fishing, exactly what can anyone passing a parked van do about peds throwing themselves out from behind it from a blind position, jeez, I was well central of primary, tsk

Unlucky mate.

Hope you get better soon, and there's no more damage to the bike.

Did you get any funny looks while on the tube, in your work clothes and covered in blood?

Bloody hell, Tynan. Sorry to hear this. You do seem to have been unlucky in the last couple of years but hopefully this is the end of it.

Go on the outside instead of the inside? You say you saw the two peds yet you cut inside from the first ped thus putting you in the lap of the gods when it came to the second ped, and you came off the worst.

didn't have that option, he was running across the road, you weren't there, I saw tham all of a instant before colliding, that why it happened

ffs, I was five feet clear of the van and two or three of the other cyclist, the peds didn't see either bike because they stepped out smartly from an utter blind spot without even looking, you are fishing aren't you?

anyhow, sore as hell this morning, doubts about something being broken, thorough check up by the gp, nothing broken or popped or anything like that, yay, it's loosened up a lot, relatively, I've been lucky apparently, painkillers and a sling and some ice to be applied, off to the oestiopath shortly (for the other shoulder, gawd)

erm, and LBS are keen to do, made doubtful noises about the carbon forks and even the frame, unseen granted, sounds expensive already, it's locked up at work, hassle hassle hassle

sigh

and thanks all

you have to have a lot more than blood and a 'broken' arm to as much raise an eyebrow on London rush hour transport

I dunno, five weeks in now to riding in proper central London in the rush hours, the peds are unbelievable, I must have near missed half a dozen that appeared from as good as nowhere and avoided dozens that just stepped into my path without ever knowing I was there, not sure what to do about it really, I ride nowhere near the curb, what to do

OUch. Very glad to hear nothing's broken.
This was your new bike that you've only recently started riding. Ouch again.

Re Peds: Not cycle as fast? Daft idea I know. But id does give both you and them more margin for evading each other.

Unfortunate. Really hope you mend soon.

Hitting a ped is one of my greatest fears - can any of us who commute through urban areas honestly say we haven't had close misses with peds? You can be doing nothing wrong at all and still they step out in front of you, giving you little or no chance to avoid them. Even at crossings with lights, they insist on trying to cross when their light's on red and yours is on green, ffs.

All I came up with was to reduce my speed to try and give me more time to react when / if it happens again.
