Tyne pedestrian tunnel revamp delayed as builders go bust

Work has come to a halt due to the contractor going into administration.

Possible not re-opening now until late 2015 or 2016 !!!!

Shuttle bus will continue to operate.

A shuttle bus? Why would anyone want to catch a bus..., just hop on the ferry, it's much more fun!

If only they'd planned for pedestrians and bikes when they built the second tunnel at a fraction of the refurbishment costs, none of this would have been necessary! ...poor planning.

We seem to be doing a fine job of f*cking up transport of all kinds in our neck of the woods these days.
