Never heard fairly liquid called that but the soap dish, aka a dish to put your soap in, in between uses, used to be common before body wash took over the world.

Soap dishes are still common, but obviously only useful for holding a bar of soap. I think quite a few have gone back to bars of soap rather than liquid wash.
And I have never seen a bar of soap sold for washing dishes. Hence my comment.

I favour a very sparing application of synthetic grease around the bead on the tyre along with over-pressurising it to some extent; while of course remaining within the max stated inflation pressure of the tyre and rim - the latter often not widely published yet regularly less than marked on corresponding tyres!

If you're running tubeless compatible rims be aware that the innermost face / edge of the bead can hang up on the rim bed so lube this too.

I checked the front wheel this morning, and the 'rim tape' was actually just electrical insulation tape, and although it looked like it was fairly straight, there were a few wrinkles and pumps, especially near the valve.

I've bought some 14mm wide rim tape so will give that a go. I'll also try the lubricant and trying to seat at a higher pressure.

I think the rim width is suboptimal but borderline okay (the original tyres were slightly wider than these).

Did you solve the valve issue?
I had something similar earlier in the year. I removed and cleaned the valve, replaced the valve and still the problem persisted. The tube would only inflate if I loosened the valve a bit.
The whole lot ended up in the bin.

Speaking as someone who has lived in the US: Yes it is called Dish Soap there.

Speaking as someone who has used it as a lubricant for seating tyres: Yes it worked for me. They also came up nice and clean

I still have a soap dish, because I don't like wasting plastic by buying body wash.

I vaguely remember seeing it when I was a child, but I think it wasn't a bar of soap, it was soap flakes.

You can still get bars of this.................in Africa and Australia. Hope that helps.
