Been using this method for 40 years, yes its a road bike, I haven't had a puncture this year yet.

Hmm, and I pumped my tyres up a bit harder than I normally do for yesterday's forum ride to Blackpool and 43 miles later I broke a spoke!

For me 90 at the front 110 at the rear

Try starting at the max pressure on the tyre wall and then letting some out to get comfortable
