Having looked at the tyres on my Specialized Hardrock I think that I had better replace them sharpish.

Has anyone any recommendations at all? My wheels are 26 x 2 and I want to ride on bike paths, trails, disused railway lines such as The Marriotts Way, a bit of on road riding too as I have to get to the trails in the first place.
I have looked on Wiggle etc but am just confusing myself. If anyone could advise, I would be most grateful.
Thanks.

Your riding sounds like it's mostly on hard packed surfaces, so you don't really need full knobblies. Compromise tyres have a good smooth central strip and a more aggressively treaded edge so that you maintain control in unexpected slop. Schwalbe Landcruisers are often quoted as good quality tyres, try bike-discount.de for cheapest Schwalbes

Another option would be something like this Panaracer semi slick from Ribble' http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/ro...base&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=Googlebase
