I have a crosstrail with 700 x45 tyres. What's the narrowest I could go and would I notice a difference. Thanks .

We need to know what rim your wheels has. The width between the rim walls is what will determine how small or large you can go.
But if you have 45 on atm the moment the smallest you can probably go is 28, at a stretch 25 but i wouldn't recommend it.
